Lignum – Verona Furniture District protagonist at Progetto Fuoco
THE STOVE THAT LOOKS LIKE A TELEVISION AND THE ONE THAT FURNISHES THE HOUSE IN SUMMER
PROGETTO FUOCO REWARDS DESIGN THE WINNERS OF «FIRE OBSERVER PRIZE X 2021»
The companies Moretti Fire of Ripatransone (Ascoli Piceno) and Kalon of Tarquinia (Viterbo) were the two winners of the first edition of the award dedicated to beauty
A stove that looks like a latest-generation TV screen, another that becomes a piece of furniture, to which a lamp or a small table can be grafted. The companies Moretti Fire of Ripatransone (Ascoli Piceno) and Kalon of Tarquinia (Viterbo) won the two prized of the first edition of “Prize X 2021”, a design award for stoves and fireplaces organized at Progetto Fuoco, the event currently taking place at the Verona trade fair, by Piemmeti in partnership with the “Fire Observer | Danilo Premoli” blog. The prize was awarded on Wednesday 4 May at the Verona trade fair on the basis of votes by readers of the blog and those of a jury of architects and trade press chaired by the journalist Oscar G. Colli and composed of Antonella Andriani, Francesco Lucchese, Carlo Martino, Claudio Moltani, Cinzia Pagni, Claudia Tisato, Elisabetta Tonali, Davide Vercelli and Giuliana Zoppis.
The readers’ favourite was Moretti Fire’s “Vision Aqua” stove, designed Stefano Monti. «“Vision Aqua” is a clean, high-efficiency stove that heats water through the combustion of pellets – explains Stefano Moretti, managing director of Moretti Fire –. The hot water is diffused through a circulator in the radiators or in the underfloor system that heats the house. The design has been studied to create a different emotion from the classic stove. A large dark glass covering the burner makes it look like a television, so when it is switched off in the summer it is an eye-catching piece of furniture. The dark ‘magic’ glass covers the burner from view when it is off, while letting the flame be seen when it is lit. By means of a button, the glass screen can be raised to open the door for cleaning and other maintenance operations».
The product awarded by the jury, on the other hand, was the stove with incorporated lamp “Graft” by Kalon Stufe of Tarquinia (Viterbo) designed by Lorenzo Damiani and integrated into the furniture by Equilibri Furniture. «Graft – explained Dalila Leone, brand manager of Kalon –, is characterized by the presence of a rack on both sides that allows you to graft on some accessories to personalize your stove and enjoy it even during the summer months: a lamp and two different support elements, as well as a magnetized “shield” to be applied in front of the “fire” window and a small table containing an ash extractor..
In the exhibition setting, the ten selected stoves were set by a number of furniture companies from Lignum, the governance body of the Verona, Padua and Rovigo Furnishing District, recognized by the Veneto Region (a district with 1207 companies, 7000 employees, 53 countries of export worldwide) that in partnership with Piemmeti created a 400 square metre exhibition area at Progetto Fuoco. In this context, 14 companies from the District furnished ten furnishing spaces to set up the ten stoves selected by the Prize X team.
«Design is becoming more and more strategic among stove and fireplace manufacturers – emphasizes Danilo Premoli, creator of Prize X – and this has been seen in the great attention that the prize has received in recent months among the trade».
The award, presented by Progetto Fuoco director Raul Barbieri, architect Danilo Premoli and Lignum president Alessandro Tosato, is sponsored by the Verona Order of Architects. «It is essential to be present in Verona – says Alessandro Tosato, president of Lignum – to remind us that the wood-furniture design chain of this territory is not only history and culture, but an enormous driving force for the present and the future».
«The enhancement of design content was a request that often came up in my discussions with exhibiting companies – explains Raul Barbieri, General Manager of Piemmeti, the Veronafiere company that organizes Progetto Fuoco –. To finally be able to offer an initiative of this level is one of the jewels in the crown of the event».
The following companies participated in the installation: Bianchini Cafedesart, Di Biase, Equilibri-Furniture, Guarise Mobili & Contract, Pernechele Rigo, Prati, Sprea Arredamenti, Style Italia, Tosato Casa d’Arredo.
The ‘Prize X’ area, with the award-winning stoves and settings proposed by the Lignum companies, is located in Hall 7 with an exhibition area of around 400 square metres. The exhibition will run until Saturday 7 May.
