For example, in the case of a “reverse-flame” wood-fired boiler (a modern type of wood-fired boiler that exploits the “gasification” process) of 20 kW used to heat a 200 sq.m. house and assuming a heat requirement of 45,000 kWh per year and a cost of seasoned firewood (about 130 q/year) of 11 €/q, the payback time of the investment is about 8 years.
